so i just finished serpent & dove by shelby mahurin in one (1) day and GUYS. it’s so good. anyway, here are some reasons to read it:
ya fantasy
witches and magic
enemies to lovers
slowburn 500+ pages
spooky victorian gothic vibes 🕯
NINA AND MATTHIAS VIBES
witty banter
pub songs
morally grey characters
female heroines who are feisty and stabby and curse-wordy and witty and sexy and more experienced than the male protags, but who are also allowed a wide range of emotions and femininity and laughter and enjoyment of life without any of it undermining the aforementioned badassery.
cursing in french
cursing in english (a lot)
no hexes tho.
just lots of glowy gold patterns and blood magic. a few potions too.
“and there is a LOVE SCENE TOWARDS THE BACK.”
a bit murdery
twisty plot
knives and daggers 🗡
hair braiding au
soulmate au
AND THERE WAS ONLY ONE BED au
so something terrible happened, please pretend we’re a couple so we can both avoid imminent doom au

I think my favorite part of the Lord of the Rings film by Peter Jackson is at the beginning of the movie at Bilbo’s birthday party the sheer amount of joy and happiness Gandalf get’s by making fireworks.
Like look at this adorable wizard I strive for this level of happiness
